Frequently asked questions about Primacem

What is a Primacem primer used for?
Primacem primers act as a bonding bridge between the substrate and the microcement or other cementitious coatings, improving adhesion. There is one for each type of substrate, and Primacem Joint is a filler for sealing joints and irregularities before applying the microcement.
Which one do I choose for my surface?
For absorbent substrates such as plaster or plasterboard, Primacem ABS (or Fix). For non-absorbent substrates such as ceramic, marble or porcelain stoneware, Primacem Plus; if they are very smooth, Primacem GRIP adds a rough texture. Primacem Flex works as a bonding bridge between new and old mortars.
Can they be used with any Topciment microcement?
They are compatible with Topciment microcement systems; the descriptions mention Sttandard, Evoluttion, Natture, Industtrial and Efectto Quartz depending on the primer.
Do they need to be diluted or mixed?
No. They are one-component, ready-to-use products: just shake the container before applying.
How are they applied?
On a clean, dry substrate free of dust and grease, apply a thin, even coat with a brush, roller or sprayer, avoiding excess. Primacem Joint, being a filler, is applied with a spatula or trowel.
How long should I wait before applying the microcement?
Primacem Fix, ABS and Plus dry in about 30-60 minutes; Primacem GRIP needs at least 6 hours (and no more than 24). With Primacem Flex, apply the mortar when it reaches the tack stage.
